Project Overview
Project Date: May 2018
Project: Beijing Doudian Truck Dealership Outdoor Lighting Project
Deployment: 6 × 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast lighting systems and 10 × 12 m fixed lighting poles
Delivery Lead Time: 19 days
This project provided outdoor lighting for a large commercial truck dealership, covering truck parking areas, vehicle display zones, and internal circulation routes.
A combined lighting system was used: 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast units for large-area primary lighting and 12 m fixed lighting poles for circulation routes and localized supplementary lighting.
The site contained a high concentration of heavy vehicles, placing higher requirements on lighting coverage, maintenance accessibility, structural safety, and long-term outdoor durability.
1. Lighting Coverage Across a Large Open Vehicle Yard
The dealership included large open areas with heavy trucks that created substantial visual obstruction and shadowing.
Pole height, luminaire quantity, and aiming direction therefore had to be configured to improve lighting coverage and uniformity across parking, display, and circulation areas while reducing pronounced shadow zones around large vehicles.
2. Maintenance at 20 m Mounting Height
Luminaires installed on 20 m high mast systems are difficult to service using conventional fixed structures and normally require large aerial work equipment.
Because the site remained occupied by heavy vehicles, access and parking space for aerial maintenance equipment were limited.
A ground-level maintenance solution was therefore preferred.
3. Long-Term Outdoor Environmental Exposure
The lighting poles operate in an outdoor environment subject to seasonal temperature variation, rain, snow, sunlight, dust, and wind loads.
The structural and surface-protection systems therefore needed to provide reliable long-term outdoor performance while reducing corrosion and coating-maintenance requirements.
4. Parallel Production of Two Pole Types
The project included both 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast systems and 12 m fixed lighting poles.
These two product types differed in structure, luminaire configuration, and manufacturing process, requiring separate production, pre-assembly, and inspection while maintaining a coordinated project delivery schedule.
5. Limited Installation Windows in an Operating Commercial Site
The dealership remained operational during the project, so on-site installation needed to minimize disruption to vehicle parking, circulation, and daily business activities.
Factory prefabrication and pre-assembly were therefore used to reduce secondary fabrication and installation work on site.
The project adopted a combined configuration of 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast lighting systems and 12 m fixed lighting poles, providing separate lighting solutions for large open areas and vehicle circulation routes.
1. Q355B / Q235B Structural Steel Configuration
The 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast poles were manufactured from Q355B structural steel and engineered according to mast height, luminaire load, and project wind conditions.
The 12 m fixed lighting poles were manufactured from Q235B carbon structural steel and configured according to circulation-route lighting and luminaire requirements.
Each pole type was selected for its specific lighting and structural duty.
2. Hot-Dip Galvanizing + Outdoor Powder-Coated Protection
All steel poles were hot-dip galvanized and finished with an outdoor powder coating to improve corrosion resistance and surface durability under long-term exposure to rain, temperature variation, sunlight, and dust.
3. Mechanical-Lowering Luminaire Ring for Ground-Level Maintenance
The 20 m high mast systems were equipped with mechanical-lowering luminaire rings.
The complete luminaire ring can be lowered to ground level for major inspection, luminaire replacement, and adjustment, reducing dependence on large aerial work equipment.
This configuration is particularly suitable for commercial vehicle yards where available maintenance space is limited by parked heavy vehicles.
4. High/Low Pole Zoning Configuration
The 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast systems were equipped with multiple floodlights to provide centralized lighting for truck parking and vehicle display areas.
The 12 m fixed poles provided supplementary lighting for internal circulation routes and localized areas.
The combination of 20 m and 12 m mounting heights improved lighting adaptability across different functional zones within the site.
5. Factory Prefabrication and Fast Delivery
The two pole types were manufactured, pre-assembled, and inspected under separate standardized production processes.
The 20 m systems were pre-assembled with their lowering mechanisms, luminaire rings, and major lighting components, while the 12 m fixed poles were prepared with their main luminaires and mounting components.
All 16 pole systems were completed and delivered within 19 days, reducing on-site assembly and secondary fabrication while supporting the commercial site schedule.

Following completion, the 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast systems and 12 m fixed lighting poles were delivered as scheduled, providing zoned lighting for truck parking, vehicle display, and circulation areas.
Key project outcomes included:
→6 × 20 m mechanical-lowering high mast systems and 10 × 12 m fixed lighting poles completed and delivered within 19 days
→Mechanical-lowering luminaire rings enabled major maintenance and luminaire replacement at ground level, reducing the need for large aerial work equipment in vehicle-dense areas
→20 m and 12 m mounting heights were assigned to large-area primary lighting and circulation-route supplementary lighting, respectively
→Hot-dip galvanizing combined with outdoor powder coating improved corrosion resistance and long-term surface durability
→Factory prefabrication and standardized production reduced on-site assembly and secondary fabrication
→The 19-day delivery schedule supported installation with minimal disruption to ongoing commercial operations
