Project Date: October 2019
Project: State Grid Phase II Site Lighting Pole Procurement Project
Deployment: 126 × 8 m fixed lighting poles
Delivery Lead Time: 20 days
This project supplied outdoor lighting poles for a State Grid facility, mainly for internal roads, inspection routes, and areas around electrical equipment.
The lighting poles were intended to support nighttime inspection, vehicle circulation, and general site operations.
As critical infrastructure, the power facility required reliable pole structures, durable corrosion protection, standardized installation interfaces, and consistent quality across a large production batch.
A total of 126 lighting poles had to be manufactured and delivered within 20 days while maintaining consistent dimensions, installation interfaces, and surface treatment quality.
1. Installation and Maintenance Requirements for a Power Facility
The lighting poles were installed along internal roads and inspection routes within the power facility.
The pole design needed to accommodate luminaire mounting, internal cable routing, and grounding connection requirements while minimizing additional work during site installation.
2. Consistency Across a Large Production Batch
The project required 126 identical 8 m fixed lighting poles.
Pole dimensions, wall thickness, flange details, welding, opening positions, and installation interfaces needed to be controlled consistently across the complete production batch to support efficient and standardized site installation.
3. Long-Term Outdoor Corrosion Protection
The lighting poles are exposed to seasonal temperature variation, rain, sunlight, and long-term outdoor weathering.
A durable corrosion-protection and surface-finishing system was therefore required to reduce corrosion and coating degradation over long-term service.
4. Tight 20-Day Delivery Schedule
All 126 poles had to pass through material processing, forming, welding, corrosion protection, inspection, packing, and shipment within 20 days.
This required coordinated production planning, process control, and batch inspection.
5. Efficient On-Site Installation
Installation within a power facility should minimize on-site cutting, drilling, and secondary welding.
Luminaire mounting positions, cable entry openings, flanged bases, and grounding connection points were therefore prepared at the factory to improve installation efficiency.
The project adopted a standardized batch supply solution for 8 m fixed lighting poles, configured for power-facility roads and inspection routes.
1. Q235B Fixed Lighting Pole Structure
The 8 m fixed lighting poles were manufactured from Q235B carbon structural steel.
The poles were engineered according to pole height, luminaire load, and project wind conditions, with factory provisions for luminaire mounting, cable routing, and grounding connections.
2. Hot-Dip Galvanizing + Outdoor Powder-Coated Protection
All steel pole structures were hot-dip galvanized, with the zinc coating thickness controlled according to project requirements and a typical target of not less than 85 μm.
An outdoor powder-coated finish was then applied to improve corrosion resistance and surface durability under long-term exposure to rain, temperature variation, and sunlight.
3. Standardized Factory Prefabrication
All pole structures were processed at the factory, including cutting, forming, welding, flanged base preparation, and installation-interface fabrication.
Luminaire mounting positions, cable entry holes, and grounding connection points were standardized in advance to reduce cutting, drilling, and secondary fabrication on site.
4. Batch Quality Control
Each pole was checked for appearance, dimensions, and assembly condition, while welding quality was inspected according to the production inspection requirements.
Standardized manufacturing and inspection procedures helped maintain consistency in pole dimensions, flange interfaces, and installation details across the 126-unit batch.
5. Batch Production and Fast Delivery
The 126 lighting poles were produced under a standardized production schedule, with staged inspection, packing, and shipment.
All poles were completed and delivered within 20 days, supporting the power-facility construction schedule.
