Project Snapshot
- Completion: November 2024
- Location: Remote sections along the China–Russia East Route long-distance natural gas pipeline
- Client: PipeChina Beijing Pipeline Co., Ltd.
- Project Scope: 58 sets of 6 m base-hinged integrated security poles
- Delivery Lead Time: 26 days, covering production, supply, installation, and commissioning
This project supported a security upgrade along the China–Russia East-Route long-distance natural gas pipeline.
Most deployment sites are remote, open, and unattended, requiring reliable security infrastructure across a long-distance, high-security energy corridor.
A total of 58 sets of 6 m base-hinged integrated security poles were installed. Each pole integrates CCTV cameras, remote warning speakers, and an outdoor electrical control enclosure, providing continuous video surveillance, remote voice warning for perimeter intrusion, and visual monitoring of site conditions.
The deployment helped eliminate surveillance blind spots along remote pipeline sections.
1. Remote locations and costly work-at-height maintenance
Most sites are unattended and difficult for cranes or aerial work platforms to access. Conventional fixed poles require work at height for inspection and maintenance, increasing both operating cost and safety risk.
2. Harsh northern outdoor conditions
Strong winds, large temperature variations, blowing sand and dust place high demands on structural stability, deformation resistance, low-temperature toughness, and long-term weather resistance.
3. Multiple devices on a single support structure
Video surveillance and remote voice warning systems need to operate together. Separate supports for cameras, speakers, and control enclosures would significantly increase foundations, cabling, and overall installation cost.
4. Low-maintenance requirements for distributed deployment
The 58 units are distributed over a long pipeline route. Corrosion, deformation, or frequent equipment failure would substantially increase routine inspection and maintenance workload.
5. Strict compliance and project schedule
Pipeline infrastructure projects require controlled material selection, fabrication quality, corrosion protection, and site installation. The available installation window was also limited, requiring consistent batch production and fast delivery.
1. Base-hinged design for ground-level maintenance
The pole can be lowered as a complete structure, allowing cameras, speakers, and associated equipment to be serviced from ground level without aerial work platforms or large lifting equipment.
2. Integrated multi-device mounting with internal cable routing
The pole includes mounting provisions for multiple security devices, with cables routed inside the pole to reduce exposure to wind, dust, and low temperatures. A single structure supports both video monitoring and remote voice warning functions.
3. High-strength steel for demanding outdoor environments
The pole is manufactured from Q355B low-alloy high-strength structural steel in accordance with GB/T 1591-2018. Its mechanical properties are comparable to EN 10025-2 S355JR, providing good wind-load resistance, structural rigidity, and low-temperature toughness.
4. Hot-dip galvanizing for long-term corrosion protection
The complete structure is hot-dip galvanized in accordance with ISO 1461 / GB/T 13912-2020. For steel sections with wall thickness ≥6 mm, the average zinc coating thickness is ≥85 μm, with a local minimum of ≥70 μm.
5. Standardized batch production and fast delivery
Standardized manufacturing processes ensured consistent dimensions, fabrication quality, and technical parameters across all 58 units, with production and supply completed within 26 days.

The completed deployment improved security coverage across remote sections of the China–Russia East-Route pipeline, supporting continuous video surveillance, remote intrusion warning, and all-weather visual monitoring of field conditions.
The base-hinged structure significantly reduced the need for work at height and heavy maintenance equipment. Integrated multi-device mounting reduced the number of foundations and cable runs required on site.
High-strength structural steel and long-term hot-dip galvanized protection also reduced corrosion risk, maintenance frequency, and lifecycle service requirements.
The standardized 26-day delivery cycle helped keep the pipeline security upgrade on schedule.
